things i have been doing recently:

  • working like a slave (no, really). moved offices. yet again, we didn't use a removal firm so my back still hurts from carrying a xerox phazer 7300n upstairs. on my own.
  • going to a very strange family event, which consisted mainly of people that I don't know or like, and a few cool people, namely HC, F and HC's alleged mother - when will the blood tests come back anyway? G smith was also there, she smiled at me, so the fact that I haven't seen her since christmas wasn't an issue. she likes me anyway, i'm the only person in the family that put up with her for 6 years and gave her lifts to the hospital.
  • preparing for our holiday to florida. I'm going to disney world. So it'll be full of fucking americans. yay! FUCKERS. Hopefully I can get some nice Nike trainers though.
that's it. when i come back from florida i might still do the arkansas write up i mentioned last year...

joke.

painted the room white. completely fucked.

i need to start planning where the cables are gonna go, where the tv stand/tv will sit and what to do with the dvd shelves. moving the dvds took a while, mainly because i've got a million gagillion of them.

newcastle got beat - Souness/Shepherd/Hall, you are utter cunts. Thank you for making newcastle a farce to be reckoned with. Die. DIE DIE DIE. D. I. E.

on the plus side, Shearer kicked fuck out of a gringo.

We bought a tv: this one. Even the wife likes it. As Alan Partridge would say "back of the net!" Also bought a new sofa. Rock on \o/

Music.

Things I'm listening to, according to iTunes 'recently played' list, are:
  • New Order
  • Iron Maiden
  • Guns n Roses
  • Aerosmith
  • James Brown
  • Van Halen
  • Oasis
  • Joy Division
  • Simon & Garfunkel
  • Dire Straits
  • The Jam
  • The Pogues
  • Kate Bush
  • Depeche Mode
  • Iggy Pop
  • Hall and Oates
  • Bee Gees
  • Bon Jovi
  • Neil Young
  • Rod Stewart (fuck yeah, legend)
  • Beck
  • KLF
  • The Who
  • Pink Floyd
  • Amy Holland (scarface soundtrack)
  • Michael Jackson (what's the best thing about 86 year olds?)
  • Blondie
  • The Cure
  • Utah Saints
  • Supergrass
  • Dr Dre
  • Snoop Dogg
  • Beastie Boys
  • Heaven 17
  • The Libertines
  • Franz Ferdinand
  • Maximo Mark (local, therefore they fucking rock. fact.)
  • The Futureheads
  • Jimi Hendrix
  • Velvet Revolver (the band guns n roses should have become. hold on, they did...)
  • Stevie Nicks
  • The Animals
  • Bob Dylan
  • Metallica (old stuff, they turned into bigger wankers more recently)
  • The Clash
  • Duran Duran
  • Led Zeppelin
  • Roxy Music (interesting story with this band, maybe i'll tell it one day...)
Weird mix, really. Most of it I started to like when I was growing up, hearing the odd track here and there. Some of the rock/metal is Hendrix/HBM's fault - spending summer with them in a farmhouse will do that to you.

I'll give the ones mentioned in comments a look (download) and see how I get on.

I have to go and make tea, wife is hungry.
Message for HBM, the feckless wonder horse.

I think we'll need to attack Fenwicks at some point in the near future. They're pricey.

Friday, July 29, 2005

Been a while since i posted. Life has been busy, work has been tough (hell, i've had to get my brain into gear before 9am every day for the past month at least). Had a breakthrough today with a particularly large and annoying website, so the pressure is off, at least for the weekend.

I'm going shopping tomorrow for a tv. Even the wife is wanting to get one, so it might just happen. Cue much fun with me playing Fenwicks off against John Lewis; asking their best price for cash and all that shit. Which will no doubt embarrass the wife, but make me want to giggle like a kid who's just set fire to the dog. Apparently it's bad form to ask loaded questions to sales staff who don't know their arse from their elbow - hey, fuck, no-one told me. Besides, if your job is to sell a 2k tv to people day in, day out, then you should know what you are talking about.

Anyway.

Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction. Best album of the 80s? Discuss. Or recommend me some new music. I've got 37GB of shite on my ipod, and I listen to the same 30 tunes day in, day out. I need a new playlist. Something with good tunes.

Help...
